Abstract: There are 670000 hm2 saline soil resources in Jiangsu province. To develop the oil plant species in those kinds of soils will extremely promote the industrialization of biomass energy in Jiangsu province. In allusion to the characteristics of soil resources in Jiangsu province, in 2001, 40 super individuals were selected from a natural population with 60000 plants of oil species with salinity resistance, seashore mallow, which was introduced from USA and had planted in Yancheng city, Jiangsu province for 10 years.Progenies of 40 selected individuals were tested. Some super clones of seashore mallow were selected with the increase of oil content from 18% to 23%.We acquired the bio-diesel sample in the lab from the seeds of seashore mallow in 2005 and its quality examination report from SINOPEC.

Key words: biomass energy, oil plant species, genetic breeding, saline soils, bio-diesel.
