Abstract: A model was developed to simulate the biomass-steam gasification process in a fluidized bed using Fluent. The effects of temperature on biomass gasification were studied. The results were presented as carbon conversion, gas component and gas yield. The simulated and experimental results were compared and showed good agreement. The simulated results show that the carbon conversion and gas yield increase with the rise of temperature. The height of bed has a great influence on CO and H2 yield. Under the simulation conditions, maximum H2 volume fraction is about 55 %. It indicates that the gasifying agent steam benefits H2 production for biomass gasification. The results also show that Fluent software is a useful tool for predicting the biomass gasification process.
