Abstract: An essential oil in a yied of 0.1% was obtained from fresh twigs of Keteleeria calcarea by steam distillation. Twenty-one constituents were identified by GC-MS analysis for the first time. The identified constituents represent 89.59% of the peak area of the oil. Terpenes are major chemical constituents in the oil. The main compounds were (-)-β-elemene(2.91%), β-caryophyllene(46.21%), humulene(8.59%), caryophyllene oxide(14.53%) and germacrene (4.09%).
