Abstract: The ginkgo exocarp extract containing 94.8% of ginkgo phenol was dissolved in CHCl3. A little amount of emulsifying agent alkylphenol ethoxylate was added to prepare a liquid containing 12.6% of ginkgo phenol. The liquid was diluted with 50,100,150,and 200 times of water. The leaves of Breassica chinensis Linn.were soaked with the diluted solutions to feed larvas of cabbage caterpillar at the ages of 3 and 4 years old.The antifeeding rate was up to 30.14%~85.30%.The diluted solution at 150 times has better effect of antifeeding to larva at 3 years old.The peak value of antifeeding was in the third day after treatment. The effect to 3 years lerva was better than that to 4 years larva. The antifeeding mechanism of ginkgo phenol to cabbage caterpillar was discussed. The antifeeding reasons of ginkgo phenol to cabbage caterpillar are that ginkgo phenol can inhibit synthesis of enzymes such as tyrosinase, and affect molting and growth of cabbage caterpillar. It shows antifeeding and developing to super-numerary larva. So most of them can not become pupas and then die.
