Present Status and Prospect of the Research and Industrialization of Forest Bioenergy in Hunan

Abstract: Achievement of management on forest bioenergy in Hunan was explained.Status of research and industrialization of fuel oil plants and bio-diesel were especially assessed and summarized.Based on the characteristics of resource and climate in Hunan, overall layout of development of bioenergy was envisaged, including: developing bioenergy plants as a foundation, developing bio-diesel as major product of liquid fuel oil (including ethanol fuel), and power generation by gasification of agroforestry residues or mixed fuel of coal with agroforestry residues.Breeding of biomass resources must be based on the principle of no-competitive with people for oil and foodstuff and no-competitive with food and oil crops for land.Special fuel plant varieties will be acquired with the characteristics of high-yield, drought-resistance, lean-resistance through biotechnology and normal breeding method.
