Progress of Researches on the Technology of Producing Fuel Ethanol from Lignocellulosic Materials

Abstract: Based on the analyses of the technologies of producing fuel ethanol from lignocellulose materials in America, Japan and Canada, pretreatment of lignocellulose materials, production technologies for hydrolysis of cellulose to glucose, and fermentation of materials to produce ethanol, as well as comprehensive utilization of the distillers grains were appraised and discussed in this paper.Comparison of different methods for pretreatment of raw lignocellulose material, hydrolysis and fermentation was also conducted.Further prospects about the production of fuel ethanol from lignocellulose materials were described and necessary researches in the next steps were pointed out.
