Abstract: Biomass energy is a renewable clean energy. Focusing on biomass energy products and according to their different physical states, the national standardization system of biomass energy is proposed in the course series on the basis of investigation of the international standardization of major products. The progress of biofuel ethanol standardization is reviewed in this paper. On the basis of analyzing the status of international fuel ethanol industry development, the typical standards of fuel ethanol in the world are introduced. The specifications of fuel ethanol from different countries are compared each other. The standardization study of China fuel ethanol products from non-edible raw material and wood cellulose should be enhanced according to the present situation of production and standardization of China fuel ethanol. The draft of fuel ethanol standards could be expedited by the way of adopting international standards.
