Abstract: The liquefaction of two desert shrubs in the presence of phenol as liquefacient was studied in this paper. The unliquefied raw materals and liquefied products of Salix psammophila and Caragana microphylla were analyzed by FT-IR method. The experimental results showed that the liquefaction extent enhanced with the increase of liquefaction temperature, catalyst dosage, and liquid-solid ratio. In the condition of 150 ℃, 7% of catalyst dosage, 4 :1 of liquid-solid ratio, and 120 min of liquefaction time, the residue values of Salix psammophila and Caragana microphylla were 3.79%and 11.25%, respectively.
