Study on the Esterification of Rosin under Microwave Radiation

Abstract: The effects of alcohol dosage, microwave power and reaction time on the esterification of rosin under microwave radiation using zinc oxide as a catalyst were studied.Dodecanol rosinate with acid value 8.1 mg/g,softening point 98.3℃ and ethylene glycol rosinate with acid value 11.2 mg/g,softening point 83.2℃ were prepared under 800 W microwave radiation for 80 min with the molar ratio of rosin to dodecanol 1:1.5 and the molar ratio of rosin to glycol 1:0.65.
